Sand Springs High School fishing team No. 5 was selected as our Sandites of the Week for their first place finish this past weekend in an Oklahoma Bass Nation Trail event.

Seth Kearns and Cole Scott took first place out of 89 teams Saturday on Lake Eufala, hauling in four fish weighing 13.11 pounds.

The young Sandites are wrapping up their first season of high school fishing and had a strong debut year, finishing 6th in the state standings out of 136 teams. They finished top-ten in three out of five tournaments and qualified for the Bassmaster High School National Championship in Tennessee.

Sandites of the Week: Hunter Hilger and Noah Daczewitz place first at Eufala Tournament

By: Scott Emigh, Editor-in-Chief

Charles Page High School fishermen Noah Daczewitz and Hunter Hilger were selected as this week's Sandites of the Week for their outstanding performance at two weekend tournaments on the Oklahoma Bass Nation High School trail.

OBN hosted two tournaments on Lake Eufala this weekend and the Daczewitz/Hilger duo placed first in Saturday's tournament and seventh on Sunday. Their first place performance was the first time a Sandite team has won an OBN event and it was the heaviest catch a Sandite team has ever landed.

Weighing in at 16.15 pounds for an average weight of 4.04 pounds per fish, Daczewitz and Hilger crushed their previous performances of 11.91 pounds (with five fish) and 8.88 pounds (with four fish). On Sunday's tournament they hauled in four fish totaling 11.09 pounds.

More than 100 teams competed both days, and more than 40 failed to land a single catch either day.
