CPHS Softball: Mackenzie Bechtold signs with Connors State College

Charles Page High School senior Mackenzie Bechtold signed a letter of intent Wednesday morning to play softball at Connors State College.

Bechtold earned an All-District Honorable Mention this fall, helping the Sandites to a 23-13 record and Regional Championship title. The pitcher/first-baseman was 8-3 in the pitcher’s circle with a 3.24 ERA, 1.50 WHIP, .241 batting average, .379 slugging average, and .241 on-base percentage.

In her three-year varsity career, Behctold amassed 4 runs, 7 hits, 5 singles, 1 double, 1 home run, 1 grand slam, and 7 RBI on 30 at-bats. She was in on 9 double plays and tossed 52 strikeouts in 89 innings for a career record of 12-3.

In addition to her athleticism, Bechtold also picked up accolades for her academic prowess. The Sandite made the Academic All-State team in 2018 and was Academic All-Conference this year.

Connors State is a two-year public school located in Warner, Oklahoma. The Cowgirls compete at the National Junior College Athletic Association Division 1 level in the Oklahoma Collegiate Athletic Conference.

Connors went 16-31 last season and was 11-22 in conference play., but are only a year removed from a 36-18, 20-12 campaign. They are led by Bryan Howard in his first year. Howard owns an 89-64 collegiate coaching record with head coaching stents at Tabor College, Northern Oklahoma College at Enid, Mustang High School, and Washington High School.
