CPHS Wrestling: Caleb Tabor takes first place at Union Tournament

Several Sandites competed at the Union “IceFighter” Open last weekend and Caleb Tabor took first place in the 163-pound High School division. 

Tabor pinned all four of his high school foes in the second period. He took down Isaiah Yorba in 2:33, Dillion Campbell in 2:20, Tyler Garcia in 3:29, and Nathan Desler in 3:34.

Dylan Luker (2-1) placed second at 109 pounds in High School. He won his first two matches 4-0 against Josiah Scates and 12-0 against Kenyatta Leal, but fell 4-2 to Ponca City’s Martezz Carnes in the finals.

Blake Sargent came in third place at 135 pounds in the High School division. He pinned his first two foes, Cooper Stone and Thatcher Hall, in 3:47 and 3:31, respectively. He met his match in Ponca City State Qualifier Dylan Schickram who dealt the Sandite a 16-1 technical fall. In consolations he defeated Stone 7-2 and Garrett Weis 11-0.

Ethan Norton (3-3) took second place at 101 pounds in the junior high division. He majored Kaden Paslay 11-0 and won a 7-2 decision over Alden Garriott before getting pinned by Coweta’s Brody Gee in the finals.

Ethan White (4-2) placed fourth at 129 pounds in junior high. He pinned Seth Matamoros in 51 seconds and Caleb Meyer in 45 seconds, but was sent to the consolation bracket after a 7-2 sudden-victory overtime loss to Coweta’s Wesley Spohn. In consolation he defeated Lane Stephens 8-6 in sudden victory and won a 4-3 decision against Kaelin Butler, but defaulted to Spohn in the finals.
